Commercial & Public Buildings
This refurbishment of this old redundant factory has seen the use of relatively new techniques where pre-formed, lead covered, timber panels have been hung onto a system of bars which are secured to the original building.
This provides a maintenance-free wall surface that will require no attention in the future.
Note the recessed joints between the panels which have to be carefully lined up to show this thoughtfully designed appearance.
Patination Oil has been applied which will allow the surface to weather to the expected lead finish.
Some of these prestigious apartments will cost in excess of £1 million, and Robert de Nero is an early tenant.
The winner of the Commercial & Public Buildings Category is former winners of the Calder Leadwork Awards and the LCA Murdock award, N.D.M for the Old Hartley Jan Factory Bermondsey, London.  Their quality of work continues to be award-winning.
