Hutches:
Radiation
Shielded Rooms (Hutches or Enclosures) for a range
Synchrotron Radiation Sources Hutches are custom
Designed & Manufactured to meet customer specified
shielding requirements. Typically the Lead shielding
thickness required ranges from 1mm-50mm (100-200mm
Locally). The Hutch Structures can incorporate a variety
of design features including, but not limited to, Sliding
Personnel Access Doors, Hinged Personnel Access Doors,
Alignment Windows, Utility Access Chicanes/Labyrinths, Viewing
Windows, Local Shielding/Bremstrahlung Walls, Beam Tube
Shielding, Access Hatches in Roof Panels/Removable Roof Panels
& Cranes.
Front End Shielding: (Primary &
Secondary Bremsstrahlung Collimators)
Careful ray
trace work is required to determine the spatial design and
location of such collimators. Calder are very experienced in
the manufacture of such specialised lead brick collimator
assemblies interfaced to beam line vacuum containment.
Pipe Shielding:
Calder have a
range of moulds and extrusion dies to suit pipe shielding
requirements with mating faces to prevent shine paths
occurring in both directions. These segments can be installed
efficiently to form a complete barrier along active pipe
runs.
"L" Shields:
Bench mounted
"L" shaped shield to provide protection while the patient dose
is dispensed from stock. Lead protection to both vertical and
horizontal surfaces, with an angled lead glass viewing window.
These have been installed throughout the nuclear research,
medical, industrial and scientific
communities.

Hot Cells for PET:
Lead shielded hot cells designed for the safe
handling of the short half-life positron emitting adionuclides,
carbon 11 and fluorine 18, used in PET. Calder provide a flexible
design of shielding to meet the variety of needs of the PET
user.
Designed to meet the advancing needs of medical imaging and
radiotherapy departments, these cells are a fundamental part of
tomorrow's medical technology.
